Ullapool - the gateway to the Highlands and Wester Isles and you can drive across from Inverness to Ullapool in around 2 hrs. The ferry terminal is the main route to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Lewis. Booking a ferry reservation is recommended in summer if you plan to take a vehicle over to the islands. Ullapool has a lot to offer as a holiday base for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Ullapool has a thriving harbour with fishing and leisure boats along with the regular ferry to Stornoway.

The Inverewe Garden is owned and run by the National Trust for Scotland and is well worth the trip. It is visited by many thousands of people each year who are amazed at the range of semi-tropical plants growing in this northerly garden.
Poolewe and the sea loch - Loch Ewe
Poolewe is located south of Ullapool and the trip to Ullapool goes through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Highlands.
Gairloch has much to offer the visitor with a golf course, hotels, campsites, self-catering cottages and some of the best beaches in Scotland.
